THE TABERNACLE
I would like to share with you something that I was reading in the morning and meditating.
Exodus Chapter 25, 26 and 27
By this time, the people of God was no longer in Egypt. They were encamped near Mount Sinai.
The people of God lived oppressed working for the Egyptions doing bricks.
For more than 400 years the people of God only learned how to do bricks and to build the piramides.
Well, you know what happen after, Moses come, God with His strong Mighty Hand delivered the people of Israel from that slavery and brought them to Mount Sinai where the 10 Commandments and other laws were given to them.
But what really called my attention in the middle of all of this was THE TABERNACLE.
I was reading how God was describing to Moses how the Tabernacle should be done. Every small detail, color, shape, size, everything had to be done according to the will of God, according with God instructions.
Then I start thinking, that people for more than 400 years they were thought to do only bricks, how they will be able to built something so great and maravilhos as the Tabernacle?
They did not know how to built the Arc of the Covenant, how to do the curtains, how to do every thing following the details provided by God.
But they did. How? Well God gave to those He call to do His work the capacity, the intelligence, the way, the strength, the wisdom they would need to do their best to God.
God wanted and needed His work to be done and not even for a minute He left them alone. People that was used to put their hands only in the mud, God used to work with gold, silver, bronze and to do all those beautiful things we can imagine by reading the Bible.
For the last 2 days I have been reading about how God provided wisdom and capacity for that people to build the Tabernacle, to make clothes:
"...So you shall speak to all who are gifted artisans, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron’s garments, to consecrate him, that he may minister to Me as priest..." Exodus 28.3
This is really very strong. I remember that once, back home, for several times the responsible for the Kid Zone from the Church I was, asked me to help in the Kid Zone, and always I was running away, I did not want to do something I never did.
One day, I was attending to the 7h30am meeting, on a Sunday, and I was saying God, here I am, whatever you ask me I will do.
By the end of that day, the Pastor called me to speak with me. He told me that he new that I was a bit busy with the responsibility of the rescue group, (back in Portugal we would go to the house of the person on Sunday and bring them by car to the Church, especially the old ones and the disable ones. After the meeting we would take them back home again.
During the week I was organizing visits and all and then we new how many people we will have to bring to the church on Sunday) but you also now that Luisa, the responsible for the Kids Zone is also responsible for the Youth Group and it is to much for her.
I would like to ask you, if you want, to became responsible for the Kids Zone and then Luisa can dedicate herself to the Youth Group. I remember I swallow, and in my mind came immediately the prayer I had done to God. I said, yes Pastor.
When I arrived home, I went down on my knees and spoke to God telling Him, that I did not ask for nothing, I even try to avoid that but if He was the One giving that to me, then He would have to give me the wisdom I would need to do it.
And believe me, he did give me the wisdom because even what I never expected to do I did, and in one competition we had with all the Kids Zone from the area (every month we had a teachers competition, we had to present the lessons we had given to the kids that month in a special and unexpected way.
We did a house were each window was a lesson and also the door was a lesson. The door and the windows were prepared to open and closed. Was a great work we all did, thank to God) we got the 2nd place. Was the 1st time our Church was in this competition and we got a very good result. After that I came to Ireland :o)
This was really a big lesson to me and yesterday and today, reading the Bible, reading what that people was able to do because God filled them with His wisdom made me remember that, as He word clearly tell us nothing is impossible for those who believe in Him.
Sometimes people say, I can't do it, I never did it, I do not have time, it is too hard, I will not be able to learn, and I say that these people is still stuck in the Egypt doing only what they know - bricks.
People they forget that long time ago God took them out from the Egypt and gave them wisdom to do everything new. He tell us in His word who ever wants wisdom ASK and He will give it:
"...If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him..." James 1.5
If you say that was not God that gave you that task to do but a man, a women, well...if it was a Pastor or a Pastor wife, they are the Moses of today, that bring to us the word of God. So if they bring the word of God to us, that God uses their mouth to talk to us, it means that the tasks are been given also by God.
If you say that was a task given to you on your work place, the word of God tell us that that:
"...Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God..." Romanos 13.1
It is time for me, for us to use what God has already given and to do our best in everything, and not to hide behind an excuse. We can if we really want to do.
As a wised person told me one day " The time is done by us"
