Am I seeking / serving other god's?

"...As the thief is ashamed when he is found, so is the house of Israel ashamed. They, their kings, their officials, and their priests, and their prophets say to a tree, “You are my father.” And to a stone, “You gave birth to me.” For they have turned their back to Me, and not their face. But in the time of their trouble they will say, “Arise and save us.” But where are your gods that you have made for yourself? Let them arise, if they can save you in the time of your trouble..."

Jeremiah 2:26-28

Meditating on this Bible passage, I was asking God to show me when do I seek other gods.

When I have a problem at work and the 1st thing I do is to look for the man help to solve instead of seeking God's advice and wisdom before.

When I have a less good situation in my marriage and I look for my best friend, though she is in the same faith I am, to talk, before speaking to God.

When I have to take a very important decision and seat at the table to think what to do and how to do it instead of giving all in God' hands.

Then when the situation is unbearable I call upon Him and He will tell me:

"...But where are your gods that you have made for yourself? Let them arise, if they can save you in the time of your trouble..."

This word made me change many things that I was doing wrong. Though I do not have idols of stone or wooden I was raising others before God.

He left it very clear to me. I can do all above AFTER I seek Him, His Will.

Then He is indeed my God and all starts to work and move according to His will and power.

Have a great day!
